Ornithoptera goliath subspecies?

Hello all,
I've got in my collection one Ornithoptera goliath subspecies, but I don't know what is the excect name....
The little card on the needle says that it's a Ornithoptera goliath procus but he doesn't nearly look like this species....
Does anyone have an idea what's the correct name??

Hi wessel,
it is really a very rare subspecies!
It combined the forewing pair with the backside of behindwings and the reverse side of the abdomen.
A "nice" puzzle.
Good evening and greetings from Bavaria.

Ornithoptera

That's strange because the wings aren't glued... The strange 'blob' at the wing is made by myself ;( and it is honey ;(
By the way; the collors at the photo aren't very clear, first of all, the colors green are brighter green and the body has got a more yellow color...

Looks like Ornithoptera Goliath Samson dorsal / ventral Mix

Hi

i would say it is an Ornithoptera Goliath Samson, but it looks artificial, because forewings seem dorsal and hindwings ventral ;-)

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

I know that the picture isn't very good but the O. goliath is not artificial. When I bought this species he wasn't very good preperated, so I prepareted him again, and the wing where not glued on the body. The wings where (and still are) just naturaly on the body...

I hope anybody knows something more about him...

Hello Ralf,
of course the forewings are recto ,while the hindwings 96% to me are verso.

Hello Wessel,

to give an exact diagnosis just post,if possible very sharp at the body section, a foto of the reverse side. As I don't have that species in my collection and as there are no pictures showing the underside in my literature and also in the web, this could be a way for correct diagnosis.

Btw, if wings have to be reinserted this can be done without traces of glue as I checked in my collection where I have few that way repaired specimens( I use glue for bookbinding).
In birdwings loose wings can easily result already after short time of overrelaxing in relaxing box as I had to face that problem occasionally in Trogonoptera and Troides but also Charaxes.

Best regards
Hans
