Hand-pairing Saturniidae of different species

Hi to everyone,

Currently I have a male Rothschildia cincta gerreronis and a female Eupackardia calleta. I have no idea whether they are "compatible", but at least they are somewhat close relatives, so I want to hand-pair them and see if some nice hybrid comes up.

The question is: how can I hand-pair them? I watched some tutorials on YouTube and followed the directions, but they won't pair. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Hand pairing

I think that with pairing of members of different families (rothschildia x eupackardia) You can´t be succesfull. The genetic differences are much bigger than in pairing between members from same genus.
Members of the same genus will have much more similiar genitals and feromones, so they are "compatible" for handpairing. This is the main reason why You can´t meet these hibrids in free nature :-)
Best regards
Juraj

Hi Juraj! Thanks for your reply :)

I know that a friend of mine (Robert Vuattoux, maybe you've heard of him) has been able to obtain hybrids between Rothschildia hesperus and E. calleta using the handpairing technique, so I thought maybe it would result with R. cincta.
