    Hello Karl,

    that is understandable.
Here in my garden I have a large hedge of Ligustrum ovalifolium in perfect condition.
If it would help you, I could send something to you at any time and several times to further your breeding. The branched branches are a…

    Hi Jurgen and Thomas,

Thanks a lot for your replies. Your input and information are very valuable and I’m glad that you share your experiences.

I’ll keep you updated of my breeding regardless of the outcome.

    Hallo Herr Peipe,

Ligustrum ovalifolium can be used (I used it a couple of years ago), however macrothyris is extremely sensitive too poor quality of food. Depending on the winter and the location where the Ligustrum is growing, the quality is not always good enough to…

    Moin,

I don't have these specis in breeding, but I wonder whether the breeding on privet can not be carried out to the end, now that Karl is already feeding the animals with it. At least partially.
Or is privet only partially suitable, as Jurgen is for…

    Good morning Karl and Jurgen

It seems to be very tricky to find an ideal substitute in winter. My larvae are still on Salix caprea, which becomes very rare now. But still possible to be found. After 56 days my caterpillars are now almost about to pupate.…

    Hi Karl,

I wouldn't expect too much of this. I tried F. benjamina (which is closely related to binnendijki) for several Nudaurelia and Lobobunaea (and also macrothyris), the result is always the same: they perish after a few instars even though some…
