Are there any known recipes for a simple, effective artificial diet that will successfully raise Acherontia atropos from L1 to adulthood? The only recipe I can find has many ingredients I don't have access to.

Hey,
A. a. larvae feed on so many different plants. Is there a real need for you to have it raised on a. diet?
Just wondering since easiest / least complex would definitely be bringing them up 'naturally'.
Regards,
Markus.

A. atropos can be reared on the artificial diet that is used for Tobacco hornworm (Manduca sexta). Although the diet is complex, I am pretty sure that is can be purchased from suppliers in US. I am not aware of the cost.

I live in eastern Washington where it gets very cold. Sometimes into the negatives F. I'm not sure if Ligustrum can survive through the winter. I just want to be prepared so I don't lose my stock in case I have no fresh leaves to feed them.
