    Hello,

I have several butterflies species breedings that are going well, i have pairings and eggs, and i was wondering what weather condition were ok to send caterpillar or eggs ?

i have tropical daytime butterflies, so, what's the lowest night temperature eggs or caterpillar can survive ?

For exemple with papilio lowi eggs and L1 catterpilars, is it safer to send eggs or caterpillar ?

    Best Regards,

    Hello,

I have a very small room (about 2,5m x 1,8m) without any windows that i would like to convert into a "greenhouse" for tropical daytime butterflies (heliconius sp, papillio sp, morpho sp etc...).

I can easily manage temperature and moisture, but i would like to have feedback regarding lightning.

When i was young (about 35 or 40 years ago), my father built a small insulated room in the cellar and he breed the same species with artificial light, and the artificial light was enough to get passiflora and choyisia to grow very well, and to have lantana flower all the time.

Does anyone have experience regarding keeping passiflora, lantana, choysia ternata, citrus, aristolochia and the like under led light ?

for exemple, to keep lantana in flower, what led power is required and what is the max distance between lighting and top of the plant ?

for passiflora what's required to keep them growing all the time ?

i have 6 reef tank led light ramp (about 140W each at full power), and i was wondering if it could be enough to make those plant grow, with just hanging them on the ceiling (about 2,50 m high). those light ramp also have a few red led which should be useful for plant.

i also plan to paint the room full white to have maximum light reflection on the walls.

indeed, i mainly have to be able to keep plant growing a bit during winter, since i have most of them outdoor but passiflora for exemple lose all its leaves during winter (i live in france, paris area), i also have citrus sp (one is 3m high), but, during winter their growth is fully stopped. And a few plant need to be keeped inside since they cannot handle the winter temperature at all.

So, does somebody have experience with this type of setup and advices regarding it ?
