The colour of Hyles sammuti is usually on one tone. However it is not uncomon that you find forms of the species on a pinkish forewing. These specimens are beautiful. Some have darker pinkish coloring. Both males and females can demonstrate this variation.
An other variation is the intensity of white markings on the thorax.
This species is still under study and some say it is a hybrid with/subspecies of H.tithymali.
To date we consider it as H.sammuti valid species.
Is it normal the male/females have diffrent collors?
