Endromis versicolora "purple" larvas, pupation

    Hello Everyone,

My versicolora larvas turned purple, stopped eating and they are walking up and down in their cage.
I think it's misunderstandable that they are ready to pupate. But isn't it a little early???

Do they pupate in the ground or above the ground? What conditions are needed for them to pupate properly?

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Greetings,
    Tamas

    Hello Tamas.,
What is early? If bred indoors, with high temp and suffincient food grow can be very fast.

They pupate in the soil/ ground.
A layer of 3-5 cm is sufficient with some debris/ leafs over it.

Adults will emerge early nest year! Even in the refridgerator!!

    Dear Fillip,

I thought it was early because the young larvas hatched only 1 month ago! (04/15/08)
I know the adults will hatch next spring (one of the earliest moths), but to be a pupa for almost a year...crazy :geschockt: :grinsen:

I put them in large flower pots with ~5cm of soil and peat mixture and I put egg boxes on the soil (as I did with D. nerii). Now I just have to wait a year :grinsen:

    Thanks,
    Tamas
