Hi,
attention - no spraying with water, P.machaon caterpillars will die. Temperature difference - day/night , air ventilation, sun is good for part of the day.

Papilio aristodemus ssp. aristodemus, male
Hi all,
wintering pupae P.multicaudata is not difficult.
I personally store pupae in a refrigerator (3C-5C), in a sealed plastic container. I put a napkin on the bottom of the box and then put the pupae. I'll use a few drops of water (3-4pcs for the minimum moisture) on the napkin.
I never had a problem with hatching butterflies in the spring.
My friend had pupae all winter outside in the garden (during winter even -10, -15 C) and pupaes were also O.K.

Hi,
I would like to add one more information - after wintering and placing the pupae in a warm room, pupae should be sprayed every day.
Without this moisture, butterflies need not emergeed, even when they are warm place. Fresh butterflies from overwintering pupae are for me emerged after 4-5 weeks in warmer conditions and moisture.
