- Hello xavm, you mean wich plant?
Sorry don’t understand.
Sorry Pierre, I meant please contact ArGeNtUm a member of the forum who is breeding several Actias spp.
Hello Pierre,
Maybe try to pm ArGeNtUm ? He seems to be great in breeding Actias spp.
Best wishes,
Hola Pablo,
Some collectors recommend to prepare your specimen and keep it drying recovered by aceton.
Hope this helps,
xavm
Hi Rudi,
You may want to translate E -4°02'01" in W 4°02'01" ?? May be you will find the correct spot ?
Greetings, Xavier
Dear Martin,
I friend of mine collected caterpillars years ago, so why I do assume mid-March for its flying period.
Please see the GPS data: N34°14'03" - E -4°02'01", per Google Map, it appears very easy to reach the area.
Best wishes,
Xavier
Dear Martin,
Mid March seems now to be the most appropriate time to go.
Best wishes,
Xavier
Hello Martin,
The only place I know is in the Oued Abiod, west of Taza.
Best wishes,
Xavier

Hi Jean-Marc,
Oxianions produce melanic aberrations much easier than cold shocks.

Dear Colleagues, a new post is on French Lepidopterists Website:
Les Zygènes du Maroc. Richesse et déclin
Catalogue systématique et inventaire taxinomique actualisés
Chorologie marocaine avec un état des lieux des populations
Plantes-hôtes – Phénologie – Bilan conservatoire
(Lepidoptera Zygaenidae Zygaeninae)
par Michel R. TARRIER
Reportages photographiques de Jean-Marie ANDRÉ

After thirty years of travel in Morocco, with more than a million of kilometers of roads and tracks covered for a total of over 4000 days of fieldwork and the discovery of some 300 places of lepidopterical interest, whom most were followed, the author draws up a new taxonomic inventory of the Zyganidae of this country, with the indication of the host-plants, phenologies for the most part unpublished, the updated distribution of each species and the respective subspecies, and concludes by the conservation assessment of habitats and species.

Bonsoir Philippe,
It's difficult to be 100% without the underside and the place of origin, but I would confirm M. aurelia.
Cheers, Xavier
Hello Klaas,
Unfortunately the differences between those two species are very tight and the only best way is thru DNA analysis. Some paper will be hopefully published soon that will show you Pontia edusa being really an isolate from the Pontic/Balkan complex.
Groetjes, Xavier
Hi Tomas,
Thanks, I was thinking this to be either a Lasiocampidae or a Lymantriidae, but could not find any picture from any blog/forum/site.
Let see if I can succeed to get at least one pupa... My source or acacia starts to end, and the caterpillars do not seem to accept Rubus.
Cheers, Xavier
Dear Both,
Can anyone be of help determining this 3-cm-long-species found on Acacia near Guelmin, South Morocco ?
Sorry for for the bad quality of the picture.
Thanks, cheers,
Xavier
I agree with Henri. Many thanks Pek.
