Strange, because for me if you cut the Rumex plant, a few seconds after, the leaves are very limp of course but if you place the stem in the water you can keep it in a good condition for about 2 days without problem, even in a warm room...

Sure and it's boring ! When the winter is too warm, most of them don't hatch. So they need cold temperatures during the diapause.

and sometimes also : Ipomoea, Phaseolus, Chrysanthemum, Helianthus and Rumex...

All the larvae of ligustri in the same conditions don't develop this form, contrarily to Hyles gallii. If you breed this species at light, 100% of larvae are green, and you obtain 100% of black larvae in the dark.
But for the size, I don't know...

Hello Tim, this is normal, sometimes when the larvae of ligustri are bred in a poor lighting conditions, they become dark purple...!

In genetics science, F0 does not exists, it's "P" (for Parent), their progeny is F1 and if you mate two F1 (brother and sister) you obtain a F2 generation...

I have some S. fagi pupae to sell or exchange : 2,5E each + ship 3,50E, all come from one wild female (so one laying).
For exchange, I'm looking for sphingidae pupae (H. tityus, H. fuciformis, M. quercus, A. convolvuli, H. celerio, P. proserpina) or also E. versicolora and Aglia tau.
Cheers. -
Hi, I'm trying to mate A. atropos, so for 3 days, 2 males and 1 female are in a cage with about 25°c but they are inactive even the night, they stay at the same place.
I tried to feed them but no more activity...
They fly only when I disturbe and the female doesn't wants to attract males.
Does someone know the behavior of this species in captivity and some advices to get a mating ?
Thanks !
