Hi,
I remember reading an article ages back regarding the spraying of nutrient solutions on larval hostplant leaves for increased growth of lepidoptera larvae.
Just curious if anyone has tried this recently and has information on making possible nutrient additives for this.
Overall i am just curious and want to try this on a few extra Sphinx larvae I have on the go.
Cheers,
Steve.
Has anyone ever reared Rhescyntis hippodamia on anything other than Viriola ? I have some ova and any help would be great.
Thanks,
Steve.
Nice work!
Final instar I presume?
How many made it so far?
Cheers,
Steve.
rubus (bramble) has worked for me in the past also. mabee throw in a few leaves and see if they take to it.
It looks like your off to a good start so far.
I have noticed many Automeris species do not feed much if at all for the first few days. A.Larra and A.Denticulatta both did not eat anything at all for 4 days for me.
after that they accepted willow and pupated with no problems.
sometimes it also helps to keep the newly hatched larvae in the dark so they don't wander too much.
I think yours will be fine on the hostplant you offered as it looks like they've already grown a bit.
Good luck,
Steve.
Thanks Serge,
Much appreciated
Hi,
Has anyone tried raising Argema Mimosae on spurge?
I have access to E. Gunnii but last winter killed off many trees, so it is not so easy to find.
Cheers,
Steve.
congrats!
Glad to see your having success with this species!
Steve.
