In my garden I have a small eucalyptus gunnii and a Quercus ilex. Among Eucalyptus, I had tried E. camaldulensis. Unfortunately seems to late to save them trying these other plants, only 2 larvae alive left. Will try again in future.

Hello, my Gonimbrasia zambesina hatched 4 days ago. It's incredible but larvae still didn't eat anything and yesterday some started to die. I offered Eucalyptus (cut in stripes), Oleander (cut in stripes), very tender leaves of Citrus, young leaves of Schinus terebinthifolius, Ficus (used in the past successfully with Gonimbrasia belina) and Rahmnus.
In the past I reared this species easily on Nerium oleander.

Oh thank you for the breeding report file! I will read immediately.

Hi Michael, did you mean the same male with 2 or 3 females? Do you remember if eggs laid from the 2nd or 3rd female paired with the same male were fertile?

I'm rearing L. phaedusa on Ligustrum japonicum.

hello, i rear a strain from Arizona which is single- brooded. Pupae emerged after 1 year, except few emerged in middle summer. In winter i keep them in an unheated room. Spraying cocoons- in months when emerging is expected- can trigger their emerging.

I use open soil. The main enemies are lizards and mouses wich sometimes enter by any small hole they find and sometimes from underground. Also Ants can be very harmful, but, once eradicated a small (unknown) species last year, the remaining ant species wich estabilished in my polytunnel seems not interested in butterflies and larvae. I use mainly for butterflies and sometimes for some hawk-moths. For any other moths I prefer cages.

Hi Connor, I live in a warmer area, in Sicily (south Italy). My polytunnel (83 square meters) is exposed to sun for many hours and this is a problem in summer when Humidity get very low, so i have to use overhead misters to increase it. Next summer I have to put a shade-cloth, otherwise temperature go over 40-45°C in summer: I don't use any plastic sheet over the netting. at least for this year, but I had butterflies flying inside until early december. I put nectar plants and foodplants in alternate rows, both along the walkway and along the walls. It's better to put taller plants close to the walls and smaller plants close to the walkway. But my polytunnel has the maximum height at the center so I have the taller plants (four 40 years old Citrus trees) at the center, close to the walkway.

Anyone experenced if it's possible to have natural pairings among Citheronia regalis siblings? Or it's possible to hand-pair them obtaining fertile eggs?

Does anyone knows if a cross between these two species (male S. insularis from Indonesia x female S. cynthia from Italy) give fertile eggs? And what's about F1 fertility?

Hello, can males of Acanthobrahmaea europaea mate and fertilize more than one female?

Can be overwintered eggs of Saturnia pyretorum or which foodplants can be used in winter, apart from Cinnamomum camphora? Or can be the cocoons overwintered until March-April?

Hello, 3 larvae hatched today: I offered Eugenia myrtifolia, Pistacia terebinthus, Schinus molle and Eucalyptus. The three larvae ate a bit of the Eugenia leaves and I saw the early droppings.

I used successfully Eucalyptus spp.

Hello,
anyone knows techniques for mass-reraring of Papilio machaon?
In last 2 years I experienced continuously losses whatever I rear them newly hatched larvae in small groups or larger groups. Maybe they don't go well on cut stems of foodplants (Foeniculum vulgare, Petroselinum sp., Ferula communis) but I had losses also with larvae left on the same potted foodplant were the parents laid eggs (Ruta graveolens).
