Buddy used some Magnolia species to rise his larvae, females don’t lay on it, but larvae ate it willingly.

Silk is protein fiber, so most likely without genetic engeeniering you will not be able to change it structure. In best case you can allow to offer to the larvae best conditions and diet to let them produce the best silk’s quality they can produce.
I don’t see any sens in feeding with extra carbon, especially in inorganic form (i.e graphite).
Most artificial diet contains mix of vitamins from B group.
And last option - you have to remember that insects’ hormones are extremly expensive for standpoint of private person, also many synthetic ones are used as insecticides.

Hello
This year I'll be able to organise some butterfly room outside for late spring and summer. I'm gonna use for this plastic tunnel 5x3x2,5m, that should hold humidity and temperature in good level .
I hope to try breed something more than Saturnids this way.Host plant what I could have in nearly unlimited amount:
- Arachis hypogaea
- Trifolium spp.
- Ruta graveolens
- Canna sp.
- the most of fruit trees, some Saturniidae like food - Ligustrum, Syringa vulgaris and I think mostly common species in European plant market.Only in limited quantity:
- Citrus spp.
- Musa sp.
- Passiflora sp.
- Aristolochia sp.Nectar plants:
- Buddleja sp.
- Delphinium sp.
- as much as possible season-flowering plantsAnd also a few artificial feeding spots.
Firstly I think about Morpho peleides, Caligo memnon and some Papilionidae.
I would ask for advices with selecting a few species that could be breed in this conditions.
I hope that isn't too much
regards
Adam
