I had two caterpillars which formed cocoons at the top of the cage. In fact they eat the netting and used it to make their cocoons. The picture shows how it looked in it last install. I know most of the saturniid from my area, there not that many of them.

I found this little guy in Glen Ellen, Sonoma County, California. It was under a rock and is about 2 cm long. It moves very fast and is quite aggressive in it behavior. I believe it is a windscorpion but do not know the species.
I found two of these at Bodega Bay Head feeding on brush lupine and raised them to cocoons. Unfortunately they died over the winter and did not emerge. I have not been able to find out what species they are. I suspect they are some kind of Arctiid.
