Attacus atlas - no mating?

Congratulations!

I am new at this and hope to get as far as you did now with this species

quiestion from me is, were they from the same nest?

So yes how did the two find each other?

greets and good luck

Rene

Actias atlas? Isn't it Attacus atlas?

@ rene, what do you mean with "how did the two find each other?? It's not clear

I have red somewhere that females produces a feromon that males can smel from a distance, thats how the males find the females.

however if the male and female are from the same nest than this does not work a kind of natural way to avoid inbred.

probably not exactly correct and please correct me if i am wrong

groeten Rene

@ rene,

you're totally right about the feromon and things, but you can always use handpairing. Then is it possible that you get eggs from a brother and sister butterfly.

if you have any other questions, let me know

the tecnique is the same of the video handpairing of Papilio machaon? is that tecnique good for saturniidae?

yes you can use that video
