Bei mir schlüpfen gerade Ligusterschwärmer und ich möchte versuchen Inzuchtfrei weiterzuzüchten. Da es in unserer Gegend Ligusterschwärmer gibt möchte ich es mit Freilnad anflug versuchen. Wie geht man da am besten vor?

Male/ female difference can be seen a bid off the antenna's
Thinner and with less ''teeth''surface is female.
But it is hard to see, for sure.
More easy is to find the males:
They have at the end sort off valve's (valvae)
(Lower side of the abdomen.)
When tickkeled gently, they will open up. females can't do this.
I have heard that some people do binding the female with a rope to a branch.
Not too tight, but rope must be placed between thorax and abdomen.
If the head /neck is to be bonded to, I don't know.
This is I think a bit cruel, but it works apperantly.
Others use a gaze construction with a trunge (trechter)
So they can come in, but in principle not out!
But more often you will find the males resting on the outside (if you are lucky, to find still any.)
