Original hostplant for Ceranchia apollina

    Hello
I would like to know about the original madagascarian hostplants
for Saturniidae Ceranchia apollina. In the internet there are
no prescriptions stated or informations to find easily.
If somebody could help with this information would be great :daumenja:
    Thank you for your help

    Hello,
as far as I know, there is no european foodplant for this species.
In Madagaskar they feed on asclepidacea.
Plant is called Madagascar Jasmin (Stephanotis sp.)
I have read this some time ago in a spanish butterfly forum:
    Los Foros de Insectarium Virtual.com

    regards
    Ralf

I've also heard that they feed on Stephanotis (Asclepiadaceae) in Madagascar. That is grown as a 'houseplant' in the UK - but it wouldn't be practical to grow enough to feed many larvae. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the larvae accept Ligustrum in captivity. Has anyone tried?

    Hello Ralf and Alan,
Thank you very much both of you for help with the information.
This Stephanotus spp./ Madagascar Jasmine I could not find here
offered and must be hard to obtain.
Actually the cultivation for it should be easy in humid warm
conditions inhouse. Maybe I can find such a plant here.
Just in case I would not breed lots of it, only some to take
photos of the caterpillars :daumenja: They should be very
    beautiful and impressive.
    All the best and greetings
    Thorsten
