Hi
I'm trying to delay the hatching of a few pupae.
I stored them in my ettic, the temp and hudmidity are ok, but there isn't any light.
My question is:
Can the pupae develop ok too, when there is no light?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Thanks for the info!!
Try to keep the male pupae at lower temprature.
Than they hatch+- at the same time!
Thanks

Hi Elfin
Did you get the eggs out of the woods of Borneo?
I think the best thing you can do is go in the Woods and collect many leaves from different plants.
Just look what they like.
I red that they eat many forest plants exept for herbaceous plants.
good luck

Hi
I have now 4 A. Dubernardi pupae, 1 male and 3 females.
My question is: can the male mate with 2 or maybe even 3 females?
Or does he get infertile after pairing once?
Thanks in advance

Hi
I'm sorry for yet another question, I hope this is the last one
I have now for 2 days 2 half pupated caterpillars. Their head is still caterpillar, but their body is à pupae already.
They are still alive, because they move when I touch them carefully.
They hadn't made a cocoon.
The other caterpillars have made cocoons 2 weeks ago.
I want to hang the other cocoons, but I don't know if they are still prepupae.
Goes the development slower when a caterpillar doesn't spin a cocoon?
Why have they pupated only half?
Have they only pupated half because they haven't spun a cocoon?
And the most important, are the pupae in the cocoons half pupated too?

Hi
I'll feed the caterpillars pinus sylvestris.
I actually bought the cocoons, he (alex m) would send 3 females and 2 males,
so I am sure that I have 2 pairs at least.

Hi
I mean eggs I get by post, they are loose from any leaves.
When I put them in a petri dish, lays 50% of them upside-down.

Hi
I'm sorry for all those questions, but does somebody know if it matters that eggs lay upside-down?
Now I'm bussy for hours to lay all eggs upside-up, while I don't know if it matters.

Hi
I have a few A. Dubernardi cocoons, wich will hatch soon.
I have some questions about mating them.
What is the perfect temp. And hudmidity ?
I red that a good mating cage is 50x50x70, is that ok?
Does someone have some other tips and tricks?
Thanks in advance

Hi
2 weeks ago, I ordered some attacus atlas eggs.
I put them in a closed petri dish in my climat closet ( temp. At day 27 c at night 19 c, hudmidity 70%).
At the bottem I laid a slightly misted piece of toiletpaper.
I opened the lit every day, and breath on it for a good hudmidity.
After 1,5 week The eggs started to get very little black spots on them.
The eggs didn't hatch. What did I do wrong?
Was there a to high hudmidity?
I'm only 14 years old, so all information is usefull.
ThanksChristiaan.

Hi
I hope that you can see him now!
Otherwise I might be abel to describe him.
The egg was round and yellow, with a small brown dot at the top.
The caterpillar is Brown-black, but its back is white.
Just behind its head It has 2 hairy white horns pionting ahead.
It's overall slightly haired, but its head is bold and black.
It is a tropical caterpillar.
I found the eggs in a zoo, and because I know they destroy them if they find them (they get all their butterflies out of cocoons), did I decide to take them with me.Thanks in advance
