Hi!
Could anyone identify these 2 butterflies? I photographed them in Syria, in the mountains close to the Lebanese border.
They flew away to soon for me to take pictures of the underside of the wings. Although they are quite similar
to M. phoebe telona, the back wings show a different pattern...

If I'm right, Melitaea species that may fly there are:
M. cinxia: http://www.pbase.com/klaasvanhaeringen/image/96910992
M. trivia: http://www.pbase.com/klaasvanhaeringen/image/97606060
M. didyma
M. phoebe telona: http://www.pbase.com/klaasvanhaeringen/image/97605723
M. arduinna
M. persea
M. deserticola
M. collina
I think it could be M. collina, but I'm not sure... I don't have literature about Middle-Eastern butterflies,
and I couldn't find them on http://www.leps.it / http://www.nature-of-oz.com. It would be great if someone could help me!
Regards, Klaas
