Handpaarung

    Artificial pairing of moths – sometimes there are problems. Sometimes a problem is the bad copy (any defects of legs and so on …). Attacini – there are no problems! I many times tried to do it with Genus of Actias (selene, dubernardi). I had no success. Please, share experience. I shall be very grateful to you.

    Dear Anatolij,

    I apologize for having found Your announce so late;
    this is admittedly very difficult (and improbable) with any Actias-species.
    Just to let them fly freely in the room (or a bigger cage) will work best, even with low temperatures.
    And it seems to encourage them if there is nobody in the room and everything is quiet with no movement.
    (You will find them making love hanging from the top mostly.)
    In contrast to other Saturniidae subfamilies both genders generally fly before copulation in this group,
    although females are not as turbulent as males.
    The pheromone mollecules seem to be quite heavy in this subfamily and therefore males will best approach from below.

    Good luck in further Actias breeding,
