Argema mittrei emergence

Hello,

Any advice on how to make my mittrei cocoons emerge would be helpful. I keep them warm (32C during the day and 25C at night) and dunk them in warm water everyday to simulate the rain in Madagascar.

Any other advice would be great.

Hello Tea!
The temperature might be o.k., but I think dunking is a rather hard proceedure! I would try spraying with warm water once or twice a day. High humidity (80-90%) is very important, put a whet spong near the cocons. Nevertheless, african saturniidae emerge very unregularly. In june, I had 4 cocons of Argema mimosae, 3 emerged within of 3 weeks, the fourth one emerged yesterday (same conditions)!
