S. pyretorum

Guten Morgen,

ich habe einige Kokons von S. pyretorum und die Tiere beginnen nun zu
schlüpfen. Das erste Weibchen legte leider schon in der ersten Nacht
Eier ab, ohne vorheriges "calling". Hat jemand Tipps, wie man am besten
eine Kopula bei dieser Art erzielen kann? Über Hinweise würde ich mich
sehr freuen.

Dear Johannes,
Butterflies easily sync in the refrigerator for hatching.
It's easy mating - 15 to 10 degrees. indoors, but must be connected free to air at least two rooms, with the doors open.
But I've never seen mating, I'm thinking this is a very fast as S. pavonia
If the female laid eggs in the photo, they are 100% fertilized

many thanks for this information. Looking at the picture I am pretty sure that the eggs the first female laid were fertilized. For the last night I put another couple together. In morning hours the male was very, very active, but I did not recognize a copula. We will see how the the egg clusters look like.
