Hello yesterday a male and a female of my polyphemus emerged, I have had them all night outdoors but I think they have not been paired. Can you give me any advice? Thank you

I can't confirm it because I've never tested it without: Some people claim you have to add a host plant, i.e. preferably oak. This worked for me, but , again, I have never tested an empty box, so it's purely anecdotal.

thanks, I will try it today

Hello Javier,
I was also breeding this species recently. Due to circumstances 3 pairs were kept under light in the first night after hatching. Next day they were put into a flying cage (150x80x80) in a room with open windows, nights were warm. Next morning they had all mated.
I put together some following pairs in the first night, they refused. I didn´t wait for the second night, because by then I had more than enough eggs. So maybe the second night is more successful.

The fact is that I'm not even sure they were paired or not, because I have not seen them.
But I just tried handpairing and it's been impossible.
Today is 3 days since they emerged, and the female has laid some eggs, so I do not know if you think they're fertile or not.Javier

My pairs stayed together until next evening, so your eggs are probably unfertilized.
