Egg laying

  • Hello everyone,

Recently I've had some female moths that I've been trying to get eggs from however, they are not laying even after a few days. The moths in question are noctuid moths and sphingidae that feed as adults (Eumorpha pandorus, etc), the non feeding ones lay eggs no problem. Im not very experienced with moths that feed and I'm wondering if maybe these moths that feed as adults need their host plant to encourage laying like butterflies? However arctiinae species seem to lay eggs just fine without.
