Saturnia spini mating

Hi,

did somebody have success with Saturnia spini copula recently?
Was it an "accident" or certain set of deliberately invoked conditions? I know this was discussed several times already, maybe something new was learnt..

Male activity seems to have some constrains..

Hi,

Apparently mating is not the only challenge. To get the female to lay eggs isn’t less challenging than the previous step, haha.

I've tried several times over the past few years to achieve mating. Unfortunately, it's never worked. A colleague of mine had better luck and had a successful mating. He doesn't also know why. Probably some parameters have to be right for it to work. In addition, the pupae often hibernate for two to three years.
