Help! Acherontia atropos emerging probems

    Dear friends,

I have some pupae of Acherontia atropos, all are emerging now but no one is able to escape from the pupa correctly, as they remain almost totally trapped in the pupal skin. What can be te cause? Temerature not enough high (20°C)? Should I spray them with water (though I know atropos prefer relatively dry environment? Or should I use something to keep the pupae firmly blocked to the substrate (they are simply laid on a papertowel layer). One was able to leave totally the pupal skin but its wings didn't expand correctly.

    Caro Mario,

    Saluti e buon successo,
    Bostjan
