Hello dear Colegues
Can anyone help me with Saturnia atlantica locality? We plane trip to Morocco next spring and I would like to catch S.atlantica there. If somebody has Moroccan locality for this species I would be more than happy. I only found Algerian localities on internet
Does anyone knows more about habitat and tipe of localities they prefer? Thank you for any help.
Martin
Hello Martin,
The only place I know is in the Oued Abiod, west of Taza.
Best wishes,
Xavier
Dear Martin,
Mid March seems now to be the most appropriate time to go.
Best wishes,
Xavier
Dear Xavier
That is what I thought. Thanks very much for all the informations.
Did you collect them by your self? Could you please give me GPS coordinates if its not secret
Because I was looking on Google map and there seems to be no roads to go to that place.
Best wishes,
Martin
Dear Martin,
I friend of mine collected caterpillars years ago, so why I do assume mid-March for its flying period.
Please see the GPS data: N34°14'03" - E -4°02'01", per Google Map, it appears very easy to reach the area.
Best wishes,
Xavier
Hi,
Your data shows a point in the south of Algiers, hundreds of kilometers east of your first locality. That seems .... dubious ....
Greetings,
Rudi
Hi Rudi,
You may want to translate E -4°02'01" in W 4°02'01" ?? May be you will find the correct spot ?
Greetings, Xavier
I am watching with interest, if you find this species
