Good morning!
My Trabala vishnou cats hatched 2 days ago, I fed them Rubus. But they haven't start feeding till now. Should I try another foodplant (I could buy some Eucalyptus) or is it normal for this species to start feeding after a few days?

Hallo Nicole,
Rhododendron ist auch ein gutes Futter.
Werner
Danke, werde ich versuchen!
some others and i have tried trabala as well. try eucalyptus asap or rose. any other types i have tried and none taken. others had the same experience. Ricinus communis or wunderbaum works too. mine starved rather then starting to eat.
Hallo Nicole,
meine Raupen fressen derzeit Rhododendron. Sie beginnen das fressen ca. ab dem 3. Tag.
as you see i had rhodo in the box too. but they did not touch it. even tore in the leafs to make it easier. they are very stubborn.
Some cats started feeding on rose, they didn't touch the rhodo yet.
This is pretty late but I’ve just received larvae of vishnou which we’re feeding on acer and immediately changed to rhododendrons. I used fresh new growth leaves which I tore in half and they feed instantly. Change them daily as it becomes a lot older On the second day.

Thank you. if that works it will be the first species that actually take rhodo. ive tried with many species that were said to do well on it. but didn't. cut from different locations and young and older leaves.
Yes well. They seem to be growing quite quickly on rhododendron. I will keep this chat updated on there progress. I’ve also successfully reared Actias Selene on rhododendron but did have a lot of casualties that may be due to poor care on my behalf or just the plant. ( it was many years ago ).
Kind regards
Connor
try prunus laurcerasus for the winter for selene they take that too rothschildia species also and some africans like Gonimbrasia krucki
