Overwintering Graellsia isabellae pupae

    Dear Colleagues,

This year I finally got my isabellae larvae to eat and I have some pupae.
I would be really thankful for some info on how to overwinter the pupae.
I know they need frost, but what is the minimum and maximum temperature
they can stand in winter, how often should I raise or lower the temperature or
    humidity, etc.

    I appriciate any information!

    Thanks,
    Tamas

    Hello Tamas !

I´m also very happy to have some pupae of Actias (Graellsia) isabellae. After pupating I slowly lowered the temperature from 22 to 16 °C . Since 2 weeks I store them between 3 and 7 °C .

I don`t know if they really need frost and unfortunately ,I don`t have any further informations about overwintering.

I think the adults will emerge in May ( I hope so ... )

    Bye,

    Flo :daumenja:

I would also be very interested in information about overwintering European Saturniidae! Is a high humidity important? And is 7 degrees cold
enough to let the adults emerge next year, or do the pupae need much lower temperatures?

    Regards, Klaas

    Hello together.

Please use the field "search form" on the top to look for any information about Actias (Graellsia) isabellae.
You will find many informations here on ACTIAS. And it´s not too much work  !

If you don't like to do it in this way, here a link to simplify:

Actias isabellae - es geht auch anders...

If anybody doesn't understand German, use an Internet translator or maybe someone here could translate some content of the link above.

    Best wishes.

    Rudi
