This incident shows once again how much of a joke CITES is for insects!

I fully agree. CITES is an administration, a teethless paper tiger, who can snarl but without visible and measurable results.
As we see CITES regulations have low impact on governmental behaviour.
The building activity in Malaysia is one example - a sad one. But there are many others.

    One of many

nevertheless, one does not need to see at all so far - to Malaysia.
Directly in our immediate surroundings the living space of countless kinds is destroyed daily.
Certainly it is tragic what has happened there, but there are worldwide incredibly the same
examples and with approval of policy and nature conservation federations.
