Hello Everyone,
just a little story about breeding the Ornithoptera Priamus. This species is listed as CITES 2 but this is unnecessary because this species is very easy to rear. Within 3-4 weeks you have a huge caterpillar! See the attached photo's of mine Priamus Larvae in L5 stage.
The female lays there eggs on every Aristolochia Spp. The food I used for breeding them is Aristolochia Grandiflora, Aristolochia Clematitis and Aristolichia Durior( Macrophylla).
I'm asking around for artificial food so rearing them in wintertime is also possible. I have a few aristolochia Tagala plants in a huge greenhouse. Sorry not for buying. So hopefully next year we can set up an own breeding. we going to plant more than 50-80 Aristolochia plants to see. And plan is harvest many eggs so that everybody on actias can breed this beautiful species.
For questions just mail!
