10 hours seems sufficient for most Saturniidae, 2 days? what were they thinking?

In any event, even a natural pairing and separation does not mean the ova have been

fertilized, I've had Hyalophora columbia pair and never lay an egg, and Rothschildia cincta

pair with a 10% fertility rate, at best. Every species seems to have it's own needs for mating,

Automeris species mate quickly, I've never seen them pair, and the last time I raised Actias dubernardi,

they mated and parted with out being seen, and I watched them as much as possible, so they probably

paired after midnight and separated before 9 am.

10 Stunden reichen sicher für eine erfolgreiche Befruchtung. Bei so langen Paarungen mit verschiedenen Arten hatte ich noch nie unbefruchtete Eier.

Allerdings dauert die Kopula bei Actias isabellae immer nur ca. 1,5 Stunden. Die Zeiten von Unten nach Oben können je nach Art stark schwanken.
