I think you're going to need a deciduous food plant, I have never hybridized the two species, but have never noticed

any of the hybrid luna/dubernardi posts with the larva eating pine, it would be worth trying though.

I may be wrong about this one, but I seem to remember reading that luna can determine day length from inside the cocoon,

so you might want to make sure they get plenty of light.

Most of the luna hybrids I've seen pics of here have used Liquidambar when the food plant has been listed.

    Liebe Lin,

    Manfred

This could be a problem then, since I don't have any liquidambar around. However, isn't it better to keep the Luna Moth Cocoons dark then, since I want them to hatch asap? I am not very familiar yet with Actias Luna to be honest. But let's just say i got hybrids by breeding, it's still not guaranteed that the eggs will be fertilized.

I really appreciate you for your time and help to comment on my post here 😊

Genau Manfred! Da hast du Recht; "learning by doing".

Jeder fängt mal irgendwo an. 😁

Learning from experience, certainly the best teacher.

My meaning, if it is actually true, about luna being able to sense light, and keeping them in a long day length would

make the moths think it was spring or summer.

Failure is also a good teacher, albeit, a disappointment, but there is only one way to get experience.

Best of luck with your efforts!
