Rothschildia and Samia hybrids

    Hello, good morning everyone.

I wanted to ask if it is possible that there is a hybrid between the Rothschildia and Samia species... ?

I have read that both are from the Attacini tribe and I think it could be possible, what do you think?

Had several moths emerge at the same time by chance from these two different species and I want to put them together in the enclosure, to see if there is copulation.

Thank you in advance, best regards

    Danibel.

    Saludos

    José

Probably no crosses between Samia and Rothschildia are known. However some crosses between Samia and other Attacini are mentioned in the literature ( Tuskes et al. The Wild Silkmoth of North America. Cornell University Press, 1996)

Callosamia angulifera X Samia cynthia adults

Callosamia securifera X Samia cynthia larvae

Hyalophora cecropia X Samia cynthia larvae

Samia cynthia X Callosamia promethea adults

Oh yes, that's true... I think I've also read that article, even with pictures.

It's funny, since they should be viable if they're from the same tribe...

But this thing about moths is also a lottery jjjejje

    Thanks for your reply
