Aristolochia Id.

Dear friends nearby home in a private garden grows this aristolochia, I shall attach the pictures I got lots of seeds but I don't know if it's a bad Aristolochia for Butterflies I feel gigantea was the bad ones though even if I tried to id it with a plants app I'm not sure if that is littoralis or gigantea and weather the two of them are good or not for breeding American or Australian and Asian Butterflies

I don't like either of them as a host plant for butterflies...

They're too deadly for them, I don't recommend it 🙌🏽

Hi

Acording to litterature A. litoralis and related species are deadly for birdwings. The catterpillars die in the last instars. It is either in Parsons, "butterflies of Papua New Guinea" or in Haugum and Low , "birdwing butterflies".

A. littoralis is listed as a host plant for Parides bunichus. But many Parides and Battus are quite polyphagus and may tolerate the plant.

Thank you Merlin so it's still useful to grow it I'm glad I shall be able to use it... Will search out for arostolochia tagala for ornithoptera aswell
