yes it's samia Cynthia probably Ricini ....
Hello Rudy ,
Wonderfull photos ! Bravo !
Where did you find them ? in Langedoc or haute provence ?
I found 8 in 1995 in southern Ardéche near the commune of GRAS , and 1 in 1997 in the aude departement ( 11 ) near Durban Corbiéres ...always on Euphorbiae Nicaensis !
never on Characias .
Nicaea is the nicest larva of Palearctic Sphingidae ! and they're really difficullt to find !
Regards, Pascal
Dear Miles ,

Hi to all ,
I have some imagos of hemaris croatica ...
To have copulations , need i put them in big or little netcages please ?
is Dypsacus fullonum ( Sylvestris )is a good foodplant for the larvae please ?
Many Thanks in advance ...
Pascal
well ....
about 25 degrees , but I think that if they're in the fridge ,diapause will operate ...
but of course a second partial hatch off is possible .
I've obtained a second partial generation but pupae were a above 28 degrees !
Regards ,
Pascal
No it doesn't matter !
when you'll be back , replace them in normal conditions ( temperature of the room )
Good Luck
Hi to all ,
I've finished a succesful breeding of Marumba Quercus from a wild female taken in South eastern France .
All the larval stages fed with Quercus pubescens in large plastic boxes !!!
I actually have 40 pupae , I've lost about 10 larvae in this breeding ...
i'll make a copulation as soon as possible .

Hi frank ,
i made a good breeding of Hyles nicaea nicaea in 1995 , from a wild female .
If you must go on travel , you should keep the pupae in the fridge to avoid a second ( partial ) generation ... because i had obtain a second generation of this species in september 1995 .
