Hi, I have a problem with identifying this moth. The caterpillar was collected in August 2018 and was similar to Hyles centralsiae but the adult's morphology is different. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks!

On which plant? It may may be hybrid with hippophaes.

Dear Xawery Daer Serge, i have the problem i can no help because i interessted for tropical sphingidae. best regards Michi
-
Thanks! The caterpillar was looking for a place to pupate, so I don't know the host plant. So in your opinion this is the hybrid hippophaes x centralasiae?
-
Why a hybrid? To me it looks like a normal hippophaes...
-
-
- Only because the larva was similar to H.centralasiae. If H.hippophaes have different forms of caterpillar (also with regular cream-white macula), the answer is clear
-
ok, in this link different forms are described, so probably this it it. Thank you very much!

It's Hyles hippophaes shugnana SHELJUTZKOI, 1933
All collected in Kyrgyzstan!

Dear Xawery Dear Norbert, in the internet page from Kitching NHM in London is _H. Shugnana with Hyles bienerti in Pattway 1993 insynonyized.
In the Ssp from Hyles hip. Miatleuskii is the a separate ssp in the near from Hyles hip. Insidiosa and also Hyles shugnana. I hope i can help. Best regards Michi

this is Hyles hippophaes bienerti , all the other names are just individual or local forms , nothing else !
-

Norbert

Thank you for explanation. For me it's now just H.hippophaes. If somebody is interested in material to DNA research, I can send legs to analyzing.
