Oops... Totally forgot to send the picture :pinch:
Well, here it is.
The small caterpillar is Caligo eurilochus.
David
Thanks!!:D
And someone know what the big one is?
sieht eher nach einer Morphoart aus
Yeah, I think so. I'm only not sure which species..
I am sure it isn't morpho peleides.
Do you know which Morphos were in the butterflygarden?
I think it is M. peleides
Niklas
I thought only morpho peleides, but could be others..
I don't think it's morpho peleides, because it has long black tails and black and white stripes on the side.
M. peleides doesn't have that.
Possibly something else then a morpho species?
The caterpillar does not belong to the genus Morpho but to the closely related genus Antirrhea.
It is also possible to see the foodplant on your photo which is a palmtree as well as the foodplant of most Antirrhea species.
But for me it is not possible to determine the species because you can not find pictures of the immature stages of every Antirrhea sp.
So maybe you can also find photos of the imagines or remember which of the species flew in the butterfly garden.
...and I think the little ones belong to the same species, so not Caligo eurilochus.
Yes, I think you're right.
Thanks all of you!! You've all really helped me solve this:D
Best,
Henk
