breeding hyles euphorbiae, How long diapause

  • ANZEIGE

    I can't imagine that you don't have hostplants until now  !?

If you put them out of the fridge, they could have a normal season. They will find plants ...

Hat den Titel des Themas von „hyles euphorbiae, How long diapause“ zu „breeding hyles euphorbiae, How long diapause“ geändert.

the ''maas'' had flooded and washed everything away.

what's starting to grow is now about 2cm tall,

    not ideal for breeding,

I want to release some of it, but also for breeding

    Hi,

potentially artificial diet? Not really an expert on that topic, but there are definitely some specialists on our platform here

Perhaps the relevant people can further advise whether feasible for H. euphorbiae ...

There is an old thread containing quite some info / details -

Easiest option though would be to keep some of the pupae which you need for the breeding, cold / in the fridge up until there will be

sufficient (accessible) Euphorbia available or you found another spot than the one flooded.

This should not be a problem usually at all. Euphorbiae pupae can also 'over-lie' i.e. skip one year and have the adults emerge the next

warm season only, so pause for 2 winters even, if I am not mistaken.

Furthermore they will take several weeks (3-4 at least) to develop and emerge anyway once they are out of the fridge.

This aspect should also be considered for your breeding plan.

    Good luck!

    Markus.
